Pacific Lacrosse was founded in 2001 by David Cash, Gordon Watson and Louie Bevilacqua. Dave and Gordon were college roommates and lacrosse teammates at Colgate University in upstate New York who both ended up living and working in New York City after graduation.
In New York, Dave met Louie during both of their tenures as investment banking analysts at CIBC World Markets. Louie is from Manhasset, NY, which might be the unofficial lacrosse capital of the world, having produced some of the best players in lacrosse today. After graduating high school as an All-American, Louie went on to play midfield for Harvard University reaching the NCAA quarterfinals his sophomore season.
During many late nights at the office, and steak dinners at Smith & Wolenskys, Dave, Gordon & Louie would often talk about the good old days of playing lacrosse and how excited they were about the development of Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
Then one day Dave had an idea for a business: what if we tried to fill the void on the west coast for lacrosse equipment? Lacrosse was exploding on the west coast, but all the major retailers were located on the east coast. So after some careful consideration, they decided to try and change that.
Soon they were headed to San Diego to get started. They worked from the moment they arrived and with a little luck the store opened just before Thanksgiving 2001. From that moment on they lived and breathed lacrosse.
In June of 2004, Lazon Wilson Dunlap took over the business from the 3 founders as they all moved on to pursue other adventures. After 9 years as an in-house attorney at QUALCOMM Incorporated, Lazon decided to leave the corporate world and pursue a business that would include her family. Lazon has 4 children at home and 3 who play lacrosse (one son and one daughter in high school, and one daughter in elementary school). With the encouragement of her husband and kids, she jumped in
